I have worked on Developing a craft be experimenting with what pallet knives can do. I have never painted only with pallet knives before so I am quite excited to see how it turns out. Observing the subject makes it a lot easier to figure out composition, shape, and form, so now I want to focus on color and texture with this artwork. I used a newspaper to ensure that the background would stay clean from paint smears and splatters.

At this point, I know that I will be working with paints, but different painting styles came to mind for this work. Firstly I experimented with drawing a few different styles. Here are a few examples of my cubist style, line art, hatching, and realism: Our upcoming artwork is about observation, so I thought that experimenting with impressionism would fit well with this art topic. I got inspired by the work of Daniel Wall and his use of the pallet knife, and he has given my the idea of only painting with that tool. Perhaps I will, but I have yet to decide. Here is a video of his work:

I am willing to take the risk of failing with experimenting. I also want to experiment with collage and with difference genres and themes with both styles. I hope to develop my composition skills in working with balance, movement and color scheme. I hope to get all of this done by the end of the year. My goal is to develop a painting style for my artworks.
